A chancel in the wetlands

All Saints' Church is now just a chancel, the remains of a medieval church near the source of the Thames that was abandoned to its wetland surroundings in the nineteenth-century when the rest of the church was removed to a drier and more convenient site.

The arches, windows and other features date from the thirteenth and fifteenth-centuries and the east gable of the old nave was left to protect the chancel arch. There are seventeenth-century texts painted on the walls and framed in designs of clouds and scrolls.
