Lambourne Woodlands and East Shefford Cycle Trail

A 20 mile cycle taking in two magnificent CCT Churches and more along the way.

Start at Lambourn. Take the Newbury Road in a South Westerly direction for eight miles until you get to Boxford. Turn South West onto the road to Hoe Benham. Then follow the B4000 (Ermin Street, can be busy) to Lambourn Woodlands. Finally follow the B4000 back to Lambourn. This is about 20 miles.

The route includes the following churches. Lambourn (12th century with extensions), East Garston (12th century with extensions), Great Shefford Norman round tower), East Shefford (medieval wall paintings and tomb), Welford (13th-century sedilia, 12th-century round tower, Norman font), Boxford (Wooden framed Saxon window is the oldest in Britain), Wickham (Late Saxon tower) and Woodlands St. Mary (Victorian). You are also not far from Ramsbury (carved Anglo Saxon Cross) and Aldbourne (medieval, numerous features).
