Cambridgeshire: Duxford Village Walk
Explore the historic parts of Duxford including the two churches of St John's and St Peter's.
The Hundred Parishes circular route passes about half of the parish's 50 listed buildings. The existence of two ancient parish churches within the village is explained by the ancient history of Duxford. It lies immediately west of the River Cam and was an ancient route between Norfolk and Wiltshire; the Icknield Way. Both St John's and St Peter's possess Norman craftsmanship dating from the 11th century or earlier. St Peter's became the parish church in 1874 and since then St John's has not been in regular use. St John's is under the care of the CCT and is open daily 10am to 4pm.
The stroll round the village is 1.8 miles (3 kms).
