Join Michael Curtis for a FREE Zoom talk exploring the Roman era across Northamptonshire. 

In recent years, we’ve gained significant insights into life in Northamptonshire during the Roman period. In this talk, we’ll take a stroll through the countryside, exploring how the late Iron Age tribal landscape had evolved under the administrative control of Verulamium, now known as St Albans. We’ll discuss the transformation from a relatively quiet rural existence to a bustling environment where it is likely that there would have always been someone on the move and look at some of the changes that had taken place in the appearance of the countryside.

Michael J Curtis is a Landscape and coastal archaeologist, and Chair of Northamptonshire Archaeological Society,  Course & Business Development Director at My Ancient World Learning Ltd, a Director at Leicester Vaughan College and a Trustee of the Nautical Archaeology Society.  A Honorary Fellow at the University of Leicester, his doctoral research is focussed on the Roman Imperial ports and harbours of Crete, a subject on which he frequently writes and speaks.  His research interests in the UK include the late Iron Age and Roman Catuvellauni tribe.
